EuRegMe
EuRegMe gathers 300-500 European medical students for sessions, decision-making, and social events.

About

The IFMSA European Regional Meeting (EuRegMe) brings together between 300 and 500 medical students from the European Region. The event is held once a year, lasts for five days (including arrival and departure day) and traditionally takes place in April. While the event itself is much more laid back in comparison to IFMSA General Assemblies, the structure is essentially the same.

During the mornings, delegates take part in Standing Committee sessions of a specific field with opportunities for self-skills development, sessions on specific subtopics of the field and inspiring presentations of activities and projects. The important decision making process takes place during the plenary sessions in the afternoon. These decisions mainly include voting on Regulation Change Proposals (RCPs) of the IFMSA European Regulations, on regional priority proposals as well as on EuRegMe host applications. After all the work is done, delegates get to enjoy a social program at night, including but not limited to the traditional opening and closing party and the national food and drinks party (NFDP).

Here are some testimonies of some of the previous meetings:

Delegation Selection

Any Swiss medical student can apply to become a delegate at the EuRegMe. The call for delegates is shared on several plattforms and the delegates are selected in a standardized application process.

Kevin Brunold

Head of Delegation, EuRegMe 2024
Malta

Being in the middle of the term, the EuRegMe was exactly what I needed to motivate myself to tackle the rest of my term. In contrast to General Assemblies, NMO Presidents also got to benefit from capacity building during the presidents sessions, tackling topics such as finances, handover strategies and inter-nmo collaboration. The EuRegMe was the perfect opportunity for me to come together with my European counterparts once more, in between the two GAs, to discuss important things in regards to the upcoming AM24, to ensure the best possible collaboration going forward. Additionally, I have had an absolutely fantastic delegation by my side, which made this event the highlight of my term so far.

NMO Management Sessions, EuRegMe 2024
Malta

Attending international meetings is always a surprise. You never know what is going to happen and who you are going to be when it’s over. Because one thing I learned in swimsa for sure is that you will have changed in some ways after these events. I attended this EuRegMe as a TNT (Training new Trainers) Trainer and as a Sessions Team member for NMO Management Sessions. During the TNT I was able to see the change in the participants of my workshop. The people that were shy at the beginning opened up and surprised us all with their graduation session. And some were my co-facilitators in the NMO Management Sessions afterwards, putting to use what they had learned. Being part of this moved me deeply and I am forever grateful for this experience of not only feeling the change in myself but also seeing this change in others and knowing I was partially responsible for this change.

SCORA Delegate, EuRegMe 2024
Malta

I was a general delegate for SCORA at the EuRegMe 2024 without a position within swimsa. It was really my first major event regarding swimsa that I attended and it was truly an amazing experience. The application was simple and it boosted my motivation that I have answered very honestly and got the opportunity to join. The organization by Maltas medical students association was exceptional and made me realize the possibilities of what we can achieve together as students.
With the risk of sounding like the lamest person on earth, I would say that the SCORA sessions were the highlight of the EuRegMe. The team was so energized, knowledgeable and passionate; it made me want to create and sustain these projects in Switzerland as well. The meeting also made me realize that although we think that Switzerland has a high standard, there are still many things that can and must improve.

Exchanges sessions, EuRegMe 2024
Malta

EuRegMe24 was my first international IFMSA event and I couldn’t be happier after experiencing such an amazing event. Meeting so many like minded and motivated students made me want to improve our NMO. Especially the sessions taught me a lot and I believe I now have a better understanding of exchanges. Talking with members from other NMOs was also really beneficial because I was able to talk about problems swimsa faces that the other NMOs maybe already have a solution for. The whole experience motivated me further to keep on being active in swimsa and maybe even IFMSA in the future!

SCOPH Sessions, EuRegMe 2023
Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

A truly intense experience that I would recommend to anyone, where you meet new people and it’s a shortcut to learn and immerse yourself into newcultures, new foods and new mindsets. This in itself broadens your own mind and I feel made me more comprehensible and less swimsa apprehensible.

SCOME Sessions, EuRegMe 2023
Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

At the EuRegMe23, my first international event, I found myself immersed in a vibrant community of motivated and dedicated students. I was surrounded by individuals from diverse backgrounds, each with their own story, yet with a collective determination to achieve a similar goal.
