Exchanges
FAQ
Do you have questions about your exchange? Maybe this page can help you!
What is being on exchange with swimsa like?
Students who have gone on a SCORE or SCOPE exchange with swimsa write a report at the end of it. Feel free to read through some testimonies here.
How does the point system work?
We try to ensure that every student is able to go to their preferred country of choosing and this is where the point system comes into play. For example we can send 2 people to country XY as we only have 2 contracts, but there are 3 people that have country XY as their 1st priority. In this case, the 2 students with higher points will be prioritized. Points are distributed as shown in this document. If you do not have a lot of points it does not mean that it is impossible for you to go to your first choice. It rarely is not guaranteed but sometimes it is possible that a person with higher points receives preference.
What is a contact person?
One of the easiest ways to gain points is by being a contact person for an incoming student. What this might contain in general is written in this document. What exactly has to be done, might change from local association to local association. In general if you are interested in becoming a CP, please inform the NEO-in about your decision and we will get in contact with you about this.
What if I take the train?
We as swimsa encourage you to take green transportation if possible. If you take any form of green transportation, we will ask you about the receipts for the tickets. And as with the reimbursement for the report after your exchange you will also be eligible for the „green-fees“ reimbursement of 50.- CHF.
What should I do if I am unable to attend my exchange?
You should get in contact with either the NEO-Out for a professional exchange or the NORE for a research exchange as soon as possible. They will get back to you and tell you how we will proceed further. Kindly inform us as early as possible.
Can this count in my elective term?
Yes it can, especially if it is during the allocated time from your university. If there are any problems from the deanery and or from the university please let the NEO-Out and/or the VPX know.
Where can I find the list of "left-over spots?"
My question has not been answered amongst the questions above. Who should I contact?
For more questions and answers, kindly visit the IFMSA page about exchanges. If you still have any questions, contact the Vice President for Exchanges (VPX) for more information.
